Maternity MODEL CALL

Session PrepARATION Guide

Welcome to the OpsyPhotography Editorial Maternity Model Call!

This preparation guide has been created to help your session run as smoothly as possible and to ensure you feel confident and excited leading up to your experience. This creative project is designed to celebrate motherhood through timeless, artistic, and magazine-inspired imagery that will be used for portfolio and marketing purposes.

A curated collection of maternity gowns, fabrics, accessories, and styling pieces will be provided for your session, and no modeling experience is required. I will guide you through every pose and expression, helping you feel comfortable while creating beautiful, flattering portraits that align with the artistic vision for this project.

If you have a meaningful personal item, special outfit, cultural attire, heirloom piece, or accessory you would love to incorporate into your portraits, you are welcome to bring it along. If you're unsure whether an item will complement the overall creative vision, feel free to send me a photo beforehand and I will be happy to advise.

Things to Think About Before Your Session

To achieve the luxury, editorial maternity look seen throughout my portfolio, professional hair, makeup, and spray tanning by a licensed professional are required for all maternity sessions. These details help create a polished, camera-ready appearance that complements my studio lighting, posing, and editing style.

  • For makeup, please request a soft matte finish, defined eyes, and polished waves or curls. Avoid dewy, oily, or overly shimmery finishes, as they do not photograph well under professional studio lighting.
  • If you have any questions regarding your hair, makeup, spray tan, or wardrobe choices before your session, please feel free to send me a photo beforehand. I am always happy to provide guidance to help ensure everything photographs beautifully.
  • If considering spray tanning, it should be completed approximately 3 days before your session to allow the color to fully develop and settle.
  • Please don't worry if your makeup appears more defined or your spray tan looks slightly deeper in person. Professional studio lighting tends to soften these details, and I will carefully balance everything in-camera and during editing to achieve a timeless, elegant final result.
  • Stretch marks, minor scars, and temporary skin imperfections can be refined during post-production, so there's no need to stress about them before your session.
  • Pay close attention to your nails, as many of your portraits will feature your hands. Consider treating yourself to a manicure and pedicure so they look picture-perfect for your photographs.

If your pregnancy has been classified as high-risk, I will require approval from your healthcare provider before your session. Your health, comfort, and safety are always my top priorities, and any necessary accommodations will be made when planning your poses and session flow.

Things to Bring to Your Session:

Please note that it is not compulsory but necessary that you bring all, these are listed to give idea of things you can bring  to add more varieties to the session and also have it more tailored down to your style. However, it is compulsory that you bring your underwear (a wired cup nude strapless bra and panties)

  • Nude seamless underwear is strongly recommended and can be purchased from most major retailers including Amazon, Target, or Walmart.
  • strapless wired bra - black, white and nude (nude is most preferred, bringing all is great)
  • Pre-pregnancy solid color suit and pant if you have
  • pretty bra, panties and socks that make you feel sexy (if you are comfortable taking tasteful nude pictures)
  • pre-pregnancy jeans - they do not need to button
  • Nude or seamless undergarments (these photograph cleanly under fabric and gowns)
  • men’s button down shirt (If husband will be joining, solid colour e.g. white, black, ivory without pattern or stripes or suit if you will be wearing makeup is fine)
  • high heel shoes (If you have)
  • tight fitting tanktop (not compulsory but you can bring if you have
  • dark jeans and a plain colored shirt (white, nude or black is preferred).
  • Dad can wear dark jeans and a coordinating shirt. It does not have to match your shirt, but should be a coordinating color.

During the session

When you arrive, we'll begin with a quick welcome and wardrobe review before moving through several thoughtfully planned setups together. Most maternity sessions last approximately 2–3 hours, allowing plenty of time for multiple looks, outfit changes, breaks, and a relaxed, enjoyable experience.

There is absolutely no need for any prior modeling experience. I will guide you through every pose and expression from start to finish. My goal is for you to feel comfortable, supported, confident, and genuinely excited about the images we are creating together.

Free parking is available directly in front of the studio and throughout the surrounding area.

I have two simple tips that can make a tremendous difference in the outcome of your portraits.

First, communicate. If there is anything you're self-conscious about, please let me know. I want you to look back at these photographs and truly love them. It is completely normal to feel a little insecure about the changes your body is experiencing during pregnancy, but don't let those insecurities rob you of celebrating this beautiful season of life. Give yourself grace, you are growing a human being! By sharing any concerns ahead of time, I can tailor posing, wardrobe choices, and lighting to help you feel comfortable and look your absolute best.

Second, be yourself. The more relaxed and comfortable you are, the more natural and beautiful your portraits will be. I will carefully guide you into flattering poses throughout the session, often demonstrating them for you to mirror. For family portraits, I typically pose parents first before bringing children into the setup, helping everything flow smoothly while working around shorter attention spans.

I know hydration is especially important during pregnancy, so light refreshments and snacks will be available during your session. If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please let me know beforehand so I can prepare accordingly.

I also understand that pregnancy often comes with frequent restroom breaks and varying energy levels. Your comfort is my priority, and I intentionally build flexibility into every session. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Please don't hesitate to ask for a break at any time. Whether you need to sit down, cool off, have a snack, use the restroom, or simply take a moment to rest, just let me know. This experience is designed with you in mind, and I want you to feel cared for every step of the way.

After the session

Approximately one week after your session, you will receive a private online gallery containing a selection of lightly edited preview images from your maternity session. At that time, you will be invited to select your five favorite images for final professional retouching. Please take your time when making your selections, as these will be the images included with your model call experience.

Once your favorites have been submitted, your selected images will undergo final retouching and artistic refinement. Your finished high-resolution digital images will be delivered approximately one week after your selections have been received.

In most cases, clients receive their final gallery within two weeks of their session date.

Please note that participation in this model call includes 5 professionally retouched digital images. Additional images may be available for purchase should you wish to expand your collection.

Product pick-up (Purchasing products is not compulsory for model call clients)

Your portraits are an investment and an heirloom that should not be rushed. Please allow up to 6 weeks for your order to be completed. Digital images will ready in 3 weeks after favorites have been selected.
